Judging at Red Bull Rampage

Chris Lawrence explains the criteria the judges will use when judging riders at Red Bull Rampage

It isn’t easy to judge a freeride contest where the competitors build and create their own lines out on the course.
Red Bull Rampage is a unique contest in that sense but someone has to win and it is up to a team of judges to score competitors correctly.
Luckily, Red Bull Rampage judge Chris Lawrence is on hand in the clip above to explain the criteria that he and his team of judges will be looking for when the riders do their final runs later on today.
Chris explains that there are four criteria that the riders will be judged on: difficulty of line, air amplitude, control and fluidity, tricks and style.
Riders that can blend these four criteria into their run and make the best use of the mountain terrain out there will ultimately impress the judges the most.
Chris expects that 2012 edition of Red Bull Rampage will once again take freeride mountain biking up another level and no doubt make his task of judging even harder.
Red Bull Rampage finals takes place tonight. Watch the whole event here live from 9pm CET this Sunday.
