The evolution of dumper trucks has led to an increase in their size that can leave onlookers dumbfounded at the sheer scale, and it's all in the pursuit of greater efficiency.
The Belaz 75710 is the biggest dumper in the world, with the ability to transport loads of up to 500,00kg. Here, we've rounded up the five biggest in the world, based on their capacity loads.
1. Belaz 75710
The Belaz 75710, with a capacity of 496 tons, is the biggest dumper truck in the world. This model was development by the Belarusian company's engineers with the aim of having a suitable load for a Russian mining company.
At 20.6m in length, with a height of 8.16m and 9.87m width, it has a weight of 360 tons and is shod with eight super-sized Michelin tyres. A diesel engine with a turbo-compresser of 16 cylinders powers it, pumping out 2,332bhp and topping out at a heady 64kph.
2. Caterpillar 797F
The Caterpillar 797F is the second largest load capacity dumper in the world, and transports up to 400 tons. It's operating weight is 687.5 tons, and it stands at 14.8m long, 6.52m high and 9.75m wide.
It runs on six Michlen XDR or Bridgestone VRDP tyres, and houses a C175-20 diesel engine with a four-stroke turbo-compressor and a transmission that is hydraulically powered. Top speed: 68kph.
3. Terex MT 6300AC
The Terex MT 6300AC, comes in third on our list with a load of 400 tons.
It weighs 660 tons itself and is 14.63m in length, and 7.92m high. It has a 20-cylinder, four-stroke engine with an electric alternator, which in turn supplies power to an electric motor mounted on the rear axle. It produces 4,000bhp.
4. Liebherr T 282C / T 284
The Liebherr T 282C and T 284 are two dumpers with a capacity of 400 tons, designed and produced by Liebherr engineers. The trucks shqre the honour of being the second largest in the world, alongside the Caterpillar 797F and the Terex MT 6300AC.
They weigh 661 tonnes, both are 15.69m in length and 9.67m in width, and have a height of 7.42m. Both have a 20-cylinder engine with up to 3,750bhp, permitting them to hit up to 64kph.
5. Belaz 75601
The Belaz 75601 can carry up to 396 tons of cargo, and is designed to transport materials out of the deepest open-skied mines.
Weighing 672.4 tons and 14.9m long, it utilises an electromagnetic transmission with a 20-cylinder, four-stroke diesel V-engine. It packs a punch at 3,500bhp.
