Flying up the ranks and competing at events such as Red Bull M.E.O by ESL is easier said than done. Picking and mastering your favourite archetype and deck is just as valuable as learning about the ones your competition will be using, so read on to find out how to use them to their maximum potential.
Hog Cycle is probably the most iconic cycle deck in Clash Royale history. Many pros have climbed the ranks and become one of the best by using it.
Due to the low elixir cost, the Hog Rider (the win condition of your deck) is available faster than your opponent's. Therefore, you can damage the towers more quickly to guarantee your beloved crowns. Learn to play the deck by watching Surgical Goblin, a Clash Royale veteran and professional player.
Put the Ice Golem or Ice Spirit in front so they can tank tower shots for the star of your deck. Use the rest of your cards to effectively defend, then repeat.
2. Go slow and steady with Beatdown
To successfully play Beatdown decks, you have to be patient and play to your strengths. During the early game, it's important to not only trade elixirs but also gain an elixir advantage. If you can't, then just fo us on surviving.
With Golem Beatdown, use the Mega Minion to eliminate tanks and the Lumberjack to defend against smaller attacks. Also, try to strategically place the Elixir Collector to keep your elixir topped up.
During the double-elixir phase, the deck can be played to its full potential. The Golem is the centrepiece of the deck and needs support units after he is played near the King tower.
Overwhelm your opponent's defences with the Golem leading the attack, which should earn you the win.
3. Overload your opponent's defence with Spell Bait
With the Spell Bait deck, you're in a position to constantly put pressure on your opponent. Cycle through your cards to bait out your opponent's key spells like the Log or Zap. After that, your Goblin Gang and the Goblin Barrel can take on the tower.
If the opponent fights through your Goblins and counter-attacks you, try to lure their cards into the middle of your side to smash any hopes of winning with a Knight or Inferno Tower.
It's important to hold on to your Rocket. It can be used if value is guaranteed or to finish off a tower and celebrate a win.
4. Switch it up by creating your own deck
A lot of the known archetypes have earned their popularity by being viable for a long time, but are exciting to play and most archetypes only require a certain core of cards to make them work. This means that there’s plenty of room to fit in your favourite card and create a unique deck.
