7 ways to win big with FIFA 19 Division Rivals
Earn top rewards in Ultimate Team’s new action-packed online mode.

The biggest new addition in FIFA 19 Ultimate Team is Division Rivals, a mode which offers a range of coins and packs for competing online. It replaces last year’s Seasons component, and also serves as a way of qualifying for the reward-heavy FUT Champions Weekend League.
Division Rivals’ premise is simple – play games to earn points. The more points you earn, the better rewards you’ll get each week, with all progress reset every Thursday. Naturally, you can increase your points-per-game by winning and scoring goals, and the following tips should also help you fast-track your way to some big prizes.

1. Treat placement matches seriously

The first games you’ll play in Division Rivals are placement matches, which determine the division you’ll start in. You ideally want to rank as high as possible for the best rewards, but the idea here is to keep things balanced and competitive, so don’t worry too much. Instead, focus on giving these games your all – no guest players or reserve squads – and you should find yourself entered into a suitable category when you’re done.

2. Edit your tactical game plans

Although skill ratings are used to host competitive matchups in Division Rivals, you'll still face star-studded lineups from time-to-time. FIFA 19’s new Dynamic Tactics features are definitely worth utilising as a result, allowing you to adapt to sides of varying quality. By visiting the custom tactics menu and adjusting your defensive and attacking game plans, you can switch strategies on the fly, helping to contain or overwhelm opponents at will.

3. Always check your objectives

You can earn additional Division Rivals rewards via the Ultimate Team objectives screen. The new mode is regularly featured in both daily and weekly challenges this year, with coins, items and packs on offer as prizes. They’re relatively easy for the most part, too, requiring you to score handfuls of goals or play a certain number of games. Just remember to check them daily, or you might be missing out on some easy winnings.

4. Keep an eye on the rankings

Every game you play in Division Rivals pushes you higher up the rankings, increasing your chances of earning the top rewards on offer. But while it’s relatively easy to find yourself in the Rank I category at the beginning of the week, you won’t necessarily stay there for the duration. Division Rivals' leaderboards are updated regularly, so you’ll need to continue racking up the points to keep pace with the competition.

5. Set your sights on Rank III

There are five different tiers of rewards on offer in Division Rivals, but only three take any significant effort to achieve. And while there's every chance you’ll finish in Rank I or II, set your aim on reaching the third rank as a minimum. You only need to place in the top 80% of division players to achieve this, equivalent to little more than a handful of wins per week. The rewards are plentiful, including coins and packs, and won’t take much time to acquire.

6. Coin rewards are a priority

If you're manage to finish in a high tier, you’ll be able to choose your rewards. And while the packs on offer can prove generous, it’s usually more beneficial to opt for the coins prize instead. Division Rivals rewards you with anything from 15-42k for finishing in Rank III, which often represents the most profitable route. Packs can spring a few surprises, of course, but we suggest taking the coins more often than not.

7. Claim big rewards via FUT Champions

In order to qualify for the FUT Champions Weekend League, you’ll need to focus your time on Division Rivals. Every game earns points towards qualification, and the higher the division you’re in, the more points you can earn per-game. If you’re skilled enough to qualify, you don’t have to commit instantly – a Weekend League token can be saved for later – but big potential prizes await when you eventually join the competition.
