Matthias Dandois performs BMX tricks inside the emptied Saint-Martin canal.

Every ten years, Paris's Canal Saint-Martin is emptied to be cleaned by the Paris municipal government. The draining of the canal draws Parisians far and wide to see just what rubbish and garbage lies underneath the water as it becomes a ghost canal.
Paris locals Matthias Dandois and renowned BMX filmmaker Hadrien Picard are both visitors to the canal-side area where they regularly enjoy the delights of Parisian cafe culture along its banks. Spotting a once in a lifetime chance to ride an emptied Saint-Martin, the two friends were keen to shoot Matthias riding this temporary spot.
