Unveiling his new helmet on Instagram with the statement, 'Let’s go, 2025 season incoming', the reigning world champion is paying tribute to his roots in more ways than one. This isn't just a fresh design – it's a personal statement and a reflection of his journey from karting prodigy to four-time world champion.
For Verstappen, this year's helmet is more than just a piece of race gear – it's a symbol of evolution, refinement and family legacy. Inspired by the helmet he wore when he first started racing at the age of four, the design features a subtle tribute to his father, Jos Verstappen, whose own helmet left a lasting impression on Max.
A helmet with a special meaning to Max Verstappen
"This helmet design is basically similar to when I started racing, when I was four years old," Verstappen explains. "It was based on my dad's design and I’m definitely very proud of that. When I started racing, my dad's helmet design was very important to me. That was the helmet I really liked and which I'm very proud to wear."
Every detail of this new design tells a story - the red and blue lines representing the Dutch flag, the clean and simple aesthetic and, of course, the lion on top – a signature of Verstappen's identity.
"It's definitely, you could say, our family's design. Some details have changed, but in general, it’s back to the roots. I’m very happy with it," he adds.
Looking ahead: A new season, a new challenge
With pre-season testing just around the corner, Verstappen is laser-focused on preparing for another title fight. The 2025 F1 calendar is more demanding than ever, with 24 races in 21 countries, requiring a relentless balance of performance, endurance and recovery.
"The season is very demanding and they’ve added more locations and races over the years," Verstappen told Red Bull. "So, it's very important to find your own time, to try to rest up and spend time with your family and friends."
Monte Carlo remains his sanctuary – a place where he can step away from the sport's intensity, recharge, and return even stronger. "Freedom for me is just being at home and not having to worry about doing the next thing on my schedule,” he told in an interview with fashion brand AlphaTauri, who he joined as an ambassador. "Monaco is the place I call home. It's where I can relax and do my own thing."
Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson: A new Red Bull Racing era begins
This season, Verstappen will be working alongside Liam Lawson, his sixth team-mate in Formula 1. While the Dutchman remains the clear leader at Red Bull, he's optimistic about what the new pairing can bring to the team. "I'm excited to be working with Liam. I think the whole team is excited," Verstappen says. "We had a lot of good moments last year and some tough moments, so I hope that we can be a little bit more stable this year."
The ultimate goal? A fifth consecutive world title for Verstappen and a return to Constructors' Championship glory for Red Bull Racing.
