Looking to get back into Street Fighter V with Arcade Edition and don't know your Tatsu from your Hadoken? Have no fear – we've got some expert Street Fighter tips that'll help you get started with this brand-new expansion. Got your arcade stick at the ready? Here are our top Street Fighter V Arcade Edition tips that will send you to the top of the leaderboards faster than you can say 'Shinryuken'.

1. Practise your battle tactics in the new Training Mode

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition has a massively revamped Training Mode that'll have you screaming for joy at its new additions. First of all, with whichever character you pick, you'll be able to see pretty clearly the frame advantage and disadvantage you have just from the click of a button.
Wondering if that new combo you've come up with actually works? Now you'll be able to see your frame advantage or disadvantage with the game colouring your character as such. This is also a great tactic for working out what moves to use and when, meaning that you will always have an upper hand, with a deeper understanding of your character.

2. Play the Extra Battle Mode

While you might be able to buy a lot of Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition's character costumes, you can also get them with fight money earned by playing the new Extra Battle Mode. Here, you'll be able to win premium costumes, titles, and more simply by defeating some NPCs. It's also a great way to hone your skills if you're learning a new character offline.

3. Use the new V-Triggers

Every character now has a second V-Trigger

A huge change for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is the addition of a second V-Trigger for every character. Not to be confused with a Super Move, the V-Trigger allows for a small power-up for a limited amount of time. Depending on your character and what kind of V-Trigger you pick, it could massively change the way you play the entire character, so it is well worth going through your favourite characters' new additions to understand whether or not their new V-Triggers are right for you.

4. Do drills to perfect special moves

Not able to pull off those Hadokens or Shoryukens as reliably as you want to? There's a simple solution. It might not be the easiest way to learn, but doing special move drills will help your execution problems exponentially. All you need to do is perform the move on each side of the stage 15 times in a row without fail. If you fluff the execution, start all over again. This way, you'll be able to perform these moves in battle using muscle memory.

5. Play against other people to learn expert strategies

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition's offline modes will only get you so far when it comes to honing your Street Fighter skills. In order to identify your own weaknesses as a player and improve your game, get involved with the Street Fighter community and take the fight online – in ranked or unranked matches – in order to understand the way that real people play Street Fighter. From there, you'll be able to work out how to read rival players and pick up other high-level strategies.
