Signing the stars of the future is the easiest way to secure long-term success at any club. Many Football Manager players spend hours scrolling through youth academies trying to find the cheap star of the future.
With the release of Football Manager 2017, the search is on again, but this time we’ve done the hard work for you, compiling a world-beating Football Manager 2017 wonderkids XI. All of these players are available at reasonable prices at the start of the game.
This squad is made up of players who have good key attributes such as determination, natural fitness, consistency and adaptability, but we've also tried to make this team stand out with some lesser-known players. After all, everybody knows who Youri Tielmans is, but names such as Diogo Queirós and Abdou Diakhate are not as popular picks. However, they will make your team unique.
Goalkeeper: Vanja Milinković-Savić
- Age: 19
- Club: Lechia Gdańsk
- Price: £3m
The Serbian stopper is at Lechia in Poland after failing to get a work permit at Manchester United in real life. However, you can pick up the 6’8” 19 year-old for £3m in the game, and if you are managing a British club, you can loan him out to give him experience until his work permit is granted.
With incredibly well-rounded attributes, 14 of which have a value of 12 or above, Savić will certainly be a star of the future.
Right Back – Alex Robles

With extremely solid defensive attributes such as 15 tackling and heading, the 17 year-old Spaniard from Malaga costs just £2m. Alex is also good going forward (his passing, acceleration and first touch are all rated at 14), and his versatility enables you to play him as a centre-back or a right midfielder. His mental attributes need a bit of work, but that’s where you can use your managerial skills to pick a suitable tutor to make Alex the new Alves.

The 17 year-old is an absolute steal as £600k compensation will be enough to prise the Portuguese away from Porto. Being able to speak English fluently will aid his transition to any side, and his amazing range of attributes make him a well-rounded centre-back for any top club.
Centre Back – Jérôme Onguéné

The 6’2” centre-back will offer a physical presence at the heart of your defence until 2030. Strong, fast and brave, he will have the likes of Diego Costa in his pocket.
Costing just £3.5m from FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in the French second division, the 18 year-old will be fighting for a place in your side from his first season, and since he can also play as a defensive midfielder, he can conveniently fill gaps during the inevitable injury crisis.
Left Back – Luca Pellegrini

The 17 year-old AS Roma defender is ideal for any system which relies on full-backs bombing forward. His pace and ability to play all along the left flank will stretch any opposition defence, but his attacking nature does not detract from his defensive solidity. He is also able to play as a centre-back and has well-rounded attributes for defensive and attacking aspects of the game. At only £2.5m, the Italian is a steal for the future.
Defensive Midfielder – Thiago Maia

The 19 year-old is well known in the football world, so you'll have to pay £10m if you want him in your squad. With unbelievably well-rounded attributes (only his set-piece ability, crossing and flair are below 10), he is an immediate starter for most Premier League sides. His defensive attributes are solid as is his ability on the ball, so he can protect any back four and shouldn't give the ball away cheaply when passing to more creative midfielders.
Central Midfielder – Abdou Diakhote

For just £850k compensation you can buy one of the top central midfield talents in the game. Being 17 and adaptable, Diakhate can be easily moulded into any central role you want him to play, and despite his youth, he already has the attributes to play some first-team football.
Central Midfielder – Filippo Melegoni

- Club: Atalanta
- Cost: £4m
You can sign the next Pirlo for just £4m. Yes, Melegoni's amazing attributes look set to make him one of the best playmakers in the world, and he's the perfect youngster for any side with a possession-based style of play.
His versatility also allows him to play in almost any midfield position, and with high leadership and determination attributes he is club captain material. With 14 attributes rated 12 or higher, the 17 year-old Italian is a legend in the making.
Attacking Midfielder Right – Hirving Lozano

- Club: Pachuca
- Cost: £13m
Another well-known name, the Mexican has the flair and acceleration to unsettle any defence in the Premier League immediately. Hirving Lozano is the most exoensive player in this team as you'll have to fork out £13m to sign him, and he's on £40k a week, but his versatility up front makes the 20 year-old a must-buy for the present and future.
Attacking Midfielder Left – Léo Jabá

- Club: Corinthians
- Cost: £2.5m
With amazing technicals for a 17 year-old, this Brazilian is a steal at just £2.5m from Corinthians. While his mentals need a bit of improving from an experienced tutor, you will find that his natural ability as a striker will make him a consistent goalscoring threat when cutting inside from the left flank. He can also work well as a winger with a crossing attribute of 14.
Striker – Kuki
- Age: 18
- Club: Malaga
- Cost: £750k
His versatility as an AMC and AMR along with his amazing attributes make him the perfect striker for a possession-orientated system. Kuki will happily play as a poacher, false nine or trequartista, making space for others and bringing them into play.
For a more traditional complete forward look at Luis Henrique from Botafago for £2m. However, Kuki is available for only £750k compensation, and with 16 attributes rated 12 or more, he will become a world-class striker.
