Back for its third year, the Intense Super Downhill returned to the ancient trails of Santiago, Chile, with the same aim – to be the longest downhill race in the world.
Battled out over an epic 14.5km, it’s not only the gruelling length that sets this event apart from your typical downhill race – as long as the riders hit the 20 manned checkpoints, the rest of the course is a free for all.
While the fastest riders came in around the 20 minute mark, there were riders out on the course for nearly two hours – imagine the arm pump from that!
Megavalanche in Alpe d'Huez is also claiming that it has the longest downhill race in the world. With some of the fastest racers taking over 40 minutes to complete it, there might just have a point.
