New Zealand drift racer Mad Mike Whiddett and Goodwood owner Lord March have enjoyed an unlikely friendship over the past few years, largely thanks to Mad Mike’s exploits at the annual Goodwood Festival of Speed…
For the 2017 Festival of Speed, Mad Mike will once again be among the star attractions, as he debuts his shiny new RUMBUL Mazda REPU B2000 stadium truck in front of 200,000 punters.
Ahead of this year’s event, Mad Mike fancied getting a tour of the Festival of Speed site. So he borrowed Lord March's butler, Monty, to act as tour guide and went for a blat around the grounds in both RUMBUL and RADBUL, his 1,200 horsepower Mazda MX-5 drift machine.

So Mike, how did you enjoy the Mad Mike's Misguided Tour shoot?
An unreal project! It was only four years ago that I was invited by Red Bull UK to perform at the Festival of Speed to showcase drifting for the first time. So from being ultra-nervous about messing up the pristine setting to now having Lord March let me tear the entire place up for this sweet short clip is awesome.
You don’t normally take passengers with you around the course. Do you think Monty had fun?
It’s always more fun when someone else can experience the ride with you. Monty was awesome, with such great humour and excitement as we ripped through the forest and flew over the jumps. He handled it like a champ, as it was fast – very fast! Mad Monty…
Thanks to the shoot, you’ve now driven all of the Goodwood sections – which part was your favourite?
The rally stage and off-road arena were epic! Off-roading is a new discipline for me and it was great to push the limits of our freshest toy, RUMBUL, in the Stables.
