Stunned onlookers watching the Moto3 race at the 2017 French Grand Prix witnessed one of the maddest moments in the history of MotoGP, after oil on the track saw half of the field slide into the gravel trap at the Dunlop Chicane on lap two.
The oil had been laid down by Adam Norrodin on the opening lap following a four-way crash between Norrodin, Lorenzo Dalla Porta, Jakub Kornfeil and Tatsuki Suzuki.
But when the riders came around for lap two, the oil caught out first Jorge Martin, then Romano Fenati, then… well, pretty much everyone. Fortunately – and unbelievably – none of the riders were seriously injured in the pile-up.
Check out the crashes below…
But hey, it wasn’t all bad. Watch this silky bit of skill from South African rider Darryn Binder, as he miraculously managed to keep his KTM upright following this wild bunny-hopping moment.
