A new, more powerful version of the PlayStation 4 has been officially announced. Called PlayStation 4 Pro, it will be released on 10 November, and will cost £349.
The new console supports 4K resolution and High Dynamic Range (HDR), and has a more powerful GPU and faster CPU. This means many PS4 games will look better on PlayStation 4 Pro, but crucially, no games will be developed exclusively for the new console and future releases won't have PS4 Pro-only featuress.
Games that will boast built-in PS4 enhancements include Uncharted 4 (via a patch), Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Mass Effect: Andromeda and Days Gone.
If your television doesn't support 4K or HDR, all games will run in 1080p resolution, and we're told that some will run in a higher or more stable framerate.
Additionally, Netflix will launch a new app for the PS4 Pro launch that supports 4K. YouTube is also developing a new 4K-compatible app for PS4 Pro.
PlayStation 4 Pro was announced at Sony's PlayStation Meeting, where they also unveiled PS4 Slim.
