Red Bull to become WRC promoters from 2013
Red Bull Media House will work with Sportsman Media group to promote the World Rally Championship
In exciting news for future coverage of the World Rally Championship, it was announced last week that Red Bull Media House, in partnership with Sportsman Media Group, will become the promoters for the series from 2013.
The decision was announced by the FIA at its World Motorsport Council Meeting in Paris.
As the WRC promoter, the Red Bull Media House/Sportsman Media alliance will be responsible for all of the commercial aspects of the WRC operation, including marketing the media and sponsorship rights for the series.
They will also have to provide various media formats to watch the action on and produce the television feeds for all rallies on the WRC calendar.
On top of that, they, along with the FIA, will draw up the provisional WRC calendar to present to the World Motor Sport Council, and will build the field of manufacturers and competitors.
Red Bull is already heavily involved with rallying, as the sponsors for the manufacturers’ championship-leading Citroen World Rally team, whose drivers include Mikko Hirvonen and reigning world champion Sebastien Loeb, as well as sponsors of drivers such as Sébastien Ogier and Dani Sordo.
The new alliance will promote the series for an initial term of six seasons, up to 2018.
