Three Day Metro Pass: Prague

Kennedy, Hoffman and Layden take on the Czech capital.

The joy of travelling is enhanced by the diversity of life, and when it comes to street riding, it's much the same. Every city is different, yet all can offer up something for anyone with open eyes and a creative mind. Hustle and bustle, or beaches and boulevards; there's always something to ride, it's just down to finding it.
Head to Barcelona and you can spend all day riding around the centre of the city, hitting its famous spots without even covering much distance. Berlin is the opposite; a prime example of somewhere that has numerous spots but they are spread out over a massive distance and it wouldn't be possible to hit the city's best riding without some help from public transport. With that in mind, we gathered together street technicians Bruno Hoffmann, Alex Kennedy and BSD's young gun, Greg Layden, and flew out to Prague in the Czech Republic to see what we could find with the help of a three-day metro pass.

With 1.3 million inhabitants and over six million tourists visiting Prague every year, it's safe to say the public transport is well organised. Another bonus is that they don't seem bothered in any way when a group of you try to get a bunch of bikes on board an already busy train.

The first day consisted of mainly cruising the city centre and we even managed to see some famous spots, like Steven Hamilton's tyre slide feeble location from Federal's 'Trafelio' video. Over the next two days, however, we travelled underneath the 'city of a hundred spires', making the most of its metro system, with some stations producing their own spots right outside, and even inside the stations themselves.
It was interesting to notice the spots that we saw slowly become easier to ride as we went towards the suburbs, both architecturally and for the lack of security giving you hassle. We hit everything we could fit into our short three days in Prague and could have kept on finding gems if only we had more time. Either way, that metro pass sure made it easier. There's a good feeling about sitting on a long metro ride home, tired and content after a fun day of riding and exploring…
