Sebastian Vettel's win at the Brazilian Grand Prix meant he matched his hero Michael Schumacher in winning 13 races in a single Formula One season.

When Vettel won the Indian Grand Prix he joined Schumacher, Alain Prost and Juan Manuel Fangio as a four-time World Champion and the youngest ever.

2013 was without doubt the year of the doughnuts. After his spectacular victory celebrations at the Indian Grand Prix, Vettel burned some rubber at the final four races of the season.

Vettel finished just three points shy of 400 points this season. 397 though was the most points scored by a driver in a Formula One season and was more than second-placed Mercedes finished on in the Constructors’ Championship.

The incredible run between the Belgian and Brazilian Grand Prix meant Vettel matched Alberto Ascari’s 60-year-old record of nine consecutive victories. It also beat Michael Schumacher’s record of most consecutive wins in a single season.

Vettel scored nine pole positions this year and converted all but one of them (the Australian Grand Prix) into a victory.

When Formula One returns after the winter break, Vettel will start the 2014 Australian Grand Prix having been unbeaten in a race for a massive 231 days.
