Guillaume de Mevius brings plenty of pedigree to the world of off-road racing. His father Grégoire and brother Ghislain are both well-known faces in the World Rally Championship paddock thanks to their own exploits behind the wheel.
Guillaume looked set to follow his family into WRC racing after becoming Belgian Junior Rally Champion in 2017. While he did dip his toes into the WRC big leagues, it is now the FIA World Rally-Raid Championship and the allure of the Dakar Rally that is driving him on.
Joining the Red Bull Off-Road Junior Team at the start of the 2021 season, he has wasted little time in proving his speed in the team’s Belgian-made OT3 machine and secured a stage win at the 2022 Dakar Rally.
Guillaume returned to the Dakar in 2023 and once again secured a stage win before going on to finish third overall in the T3 Light Prototype class.
The Belgian took the big step up to compete in the full Car class for the 2024 Dakar at the wheel of private team Overdrive’s Toyota Hilux, making an immediate impression with a brilliant victory on Stage 1. Maintaining the pace across all 12 stages, Guillaume raced home in Yanbu in second place overall, completing a dream debut that scored him a second consecutive Dakar podium.
Guillaume and his co-driver Guerlain Chicherit surprised many in late 2024, when they left Overdrive Racing to join X-raid Team with Mini. The support the duo has from Mini gives them the best opportunity to be competitive at the 2025 Dakar Rally.
