There are few surfers in Australia who've garnered as much recognition as Molly Picklum over the last few years, and for good reason.
After first qualifying for the World Surf League's Championship Tour in 2022, Picklum secured her maiden Championship Tour victory in just her second season, at the 2023 Hurley Pro Sunset Beach in Hawaii. This incredible achievement came just weeks after winning the Vans Pipe Masters in a North Shore season for the books.
Two more finals at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach and the Corona Open J-Bay saw Picklum finish 2023 ranked fifth in the world, her path to future success looking lined with gold.
In 2024 Picklum set the world on fire at the season-opening Lexus Pipe Pro, where a scintillating run to the final was halted by Caitlin Simmers on a landmark day for women's surfing. Although Picklum would have loved to claim the big trophy, she can take solace from securing the first-ever women's perfect 10 at Pipeline in the final, for the insane backside tube ride that was seen around the world.
At the next event Picklum went back-to-back at Sunset for the first time since seven-time world champion Layne Beachley managed the feat in 1999-2000, to put herself into the yellow jersey.
In 2025, Picklum won the World Surf League Finals. She beat out Caroline Marks in a best-of-three showdown at the WSL Finals Fiji to achieve a lifelong goal and be crowned world champion.
When she's not in the water winning heats you can find Picklum in the line-up at her local beachbreaks on the Central Coast of New South Wales, and it's in these punchy Pacific peaks that Picklum has honed her technique, both above and below the lip.
Whether she's cracking jokes with her mates or training hard for competition, Picklum is an outgoing personality and a talent who you'll be seeing a lot more of for years to come, in and out of the water.
