The FIFA 19 Team Of The Year has been revealed, and many of our picks have made it into the final XI.
EA sent us our very own Team Of The Year box, and we were tasked with choosing our own team. Our picks – alongside teams chosen by a carefully curated list of media, athletes, and EA Sports FIFA community members – were taken into account when the final XI was selected.
We called upon top YouTubers Chunkz and Filly to pick our FIFA 19 TOTY in a livestream on Red Bull Facebook, Twitch and YouTube. They needed help from viewers to select players when they couldn't agree, and even played a game of FIFA 19 to pick the left-back.
You can see their team below, which features many of the players who are in the FIFA 19 TOTY
Ronaldo and Mbappé are among the forwards; in midfield, both teams feature Kanté and Modrić, while Van Dijk, Marcelo and Varane are at the back. Other differences between the FIFA 19 TOTY and our own are Messi (we had Neymar Jr.) up front, De Bruyne in midfield (we had Pogba), and Sergio Ramos in defence. Although, as we had Kyle Walker at right-back, we reckon our side is more balanced than the FIFA 19 TOTY, which features Varane, a centre-back, at full-back. Chunkz and Filly also picked Oblak in goal rather than De Gea.
Watch the video below to find out the reasons behind their choices. And keep scrolling down for your chance to win our FIFA 19 TOTY box.

  • Allison Becker (Liverpool)
  • Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid)
  • David De Gea (Manchester United)
  • Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur)
  • Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid)
According to the FIFA 19 TOTY, the Premier League is home to the best goalkeepers in the world, with four top stoppers hailing from the English top flight. De Gea has been considered to be the top goalkeeper in recent seasons, but he didn't enjoy the best of times during the World Cup, while Manchester United have struggled to keep clean sheets in the league. Despite making a howler in the final, Hugo Lloris lifted the World Cup, but Thibaut Courtois was the best keeper at the tournament. Allison has helped transform Liverpool into title challengers, while Jan Oblak had the most clean sheets in Europe last season.

Defenders

  • Jordi Alba (Barcelona)
  • Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus)
  • Diego Godín (Atletico Madrid)
  • Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid)
  • Lucas Hernández (Atletico Madrid)
  • Mats Hummels (Bayern Munich)
  • Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich)
  • Kalidou Koulibaly (Napoli)
  • Dejan Lovren (Liverpool)
  • Kostas Manolas (A.S. Roma)
  • Marcelo (Real Madrid)
  • Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid)
  • Thiago Silva (PSG)
  • Kieran Trippier (Tottenham Hotspur)
  • Samuel Umtiti (Barcelona)
  • Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool)
  • Raphaël Varane (Real Madrid)
  • Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham Hotspur)
  • Šime Vrsaljko (Inter Milan)
  • Kyle Walker (Manchester City)
With an array of World Cup, Champions League and title winners in this list it's going to be hard to pick a back four. Varane won both the World Cup and the Champions League with France and Real Madrid, and he's joined by club and country teammates such as Sergio Ramos, Samuel Umtiti and Dani Carvajal. Chielini won another league with Juve, Kyle Walker picked up his first Premier League winners medal, Jordi Alba was part of a dominant Barcelona side in La Liga, and while Germany endured a poor World Cup, Hummels and Kimmich won the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich. But it's not just about trophies – with Van Dijk helping transform Liverpool's fortunes, he's being touted as the best defender in the world right now, and Kieran Trippier starred in England's run to the World Cup Semi-final.

  • Sergio Busquets (Barcelona)
  • Casemiro (Real Madrid)
  • Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City)
  • Paulo Dybala (Juventus)
  • Fernandinho (Manchester City)
  • Isco (Real Madrid)
  • N'Golo Kanté (Chelsea)
  • Toni Kroos (Real Madrid)
  • Blaise Matuidi (Juventus)
  • Luka Modrić (Real Madrid)
  • Ivan Perišić (Inter Milan)
  • Paul Pogba (Manchester United)
  • Ivan Rakitić (Barcelona)
  • Marco Reus (Dortmund)
  • David Silva (Manchester City)
Luka Modrić has had an incredible year, winning the Champions League with Real Madrid and reaching the World Cup final with unfancied Croatia. He also won the Ballon d'Or.
France's World Cup-winning midfield (Kanté, Pogba and Matuidi) are nominated as are Manchester City's title-winning trio (Fernandinho, David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne). The DCM pick will be interesting as while Kanté has long been considered to be the best in the world in this position, Fernandinho has recently showed how important he is to Man City when he was left out of the team. Paul Pogba, when he is playing at his best (which you can control in FIFA), has shown how good he can be in 2018. Then there are Modrić's classy Real Madrid teammates – Toni Kroos and Isco –. to consider.

Attackers

  • Sergio Agüero (Manchester City)
  • Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)
  • Edinson Cavani (PSG)
  • Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid)
  • Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
  • Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
  • Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich)
  • Mario Mandžukić (Juventus)
  • Sadio Mané (Liverpool)
  • Kylian Mbappé (PSG)
  • Lionel Messi (Barcelona)
  • Neymar (PSG)
  • Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)
  • Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
  • Luis Suárez (Barcelona)
From wingers to number 10s and traditional strikers, there are all sorts of amazing attackers in here to try and squeeze into an XI. World Cup Golden Boot winner Harry Kane is considered to be the best traditonal number 9 in the world. Salah had an incredible season for Liverpool but he has a rival on the right wing in World Cup winner Mbappé. On the left we have Neymar, Hazard and Mané battling it out. And then there's the small matter of the two highest rated current players in the game – Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
