Jon Olsson has claimed no fewer than nine Winter X Games medals. He has also invented several double flips, such as the D-spin 720 into a flatspin 540 (DJ flip), a switch double rodeo 1080 (hexo flip), a double flatspin 900 (kangaroo flip), and a switch cork 720 to flatspin 540 (the tornado).
But here are three things that you probably didn't know about Jon's not-so-secret life as a petrolhead:
1. Jon likes getting to the slopes a little unconventionally
While most skiers and snowboarders drive around in hefty pick-up trucks and SUVs, Jon has always done things a little differently.
He prefers to get to the slopes in super-powerful, super-pricey four-wheel-drive supercars, with a Lamborghini Gallardo, Nissan GT-R and Audi R8 all having received the Olsson treatment.
That means roof boxes strapped on, snow tyres fitted and, almost always, Jon’s signature monochrome camouflage paint applied.
2. Jon has his own signature Audi A4
Drivers can now get their own slice of Jon Olsson style with the very-limited-edition Audi A4 Jon Olsson Camo Edition.
Featuring camouflage paintwork, black 18-inch alloy wheels and, of course, a roof box, only 50 models of the A4 will be produced for sale in Jon’s native Sweden.
The only disappointment? The car uses a very sensible 177bhp diesel engine rather than the bonkers 550bhp twin-turbo petrol V8 used in Jon’s Audi RS6, another of his favourite whips.
3. Jon’s good at driving up slopes as well as skiing down them
Jon’s latest driving challenge was to see if he could negotiate his way up a ski slope at Storlien, in Sweden, using his pride and joy, his Rebellion R2k, which he dreamed up with former Koenigsegg lead designer Leif Tufvesson.
The car is effectively a Le Mans racer converted for use on the road – or pistes in this case – and while no one knows the R2k’s exact horsepower figures, with Jon you can bet it’s going to be a lot!
He made it up the slope, of course. Time to try it on a double black…
