At Home with Courage Adams
The Nigerian-born street shredder sessions the Spanish streets.
Everyone has a talent – we all just have to find out what it is. It turns out that Courage Adams definitely has some serious skills on a bike, but he might never have discovered them had he and his family not moved to a new country.
Courage was born 20 years ago in Nigeria, and when he was five his family decided to move to Spain for, in his words, “a better life”. The day their plane landed in Spain, Courage saw snow for the very first time and couldn't believe his eyes. His adventure was only just getting started, though.
The family made their home in Pamplona, which, in terms of weather and riding spots, is about as far as you can get from Barcelona. Located in northern Spain's Navarre province, near the Pyrenees and the Atlantic Ocean, its winters tend to be harsh. But the lack of spots and less-than-ideal weather didn't stop Courage from progressing on his bike at a rate that few other riders can match.
In his adopted home country, he can now count on a new tight group of friends, not only from all over Spain but from the rest of the world. One of his best friends is from Eastern Europe and another is from South America. They're all friends thanks to sharing the same passion for bike riding.
It's a given that the always-smiling Courage is going to pull whatever trick he wants, regardless of whether it takes one try or 100 tries. He's a powerful and technical rider, and his skills on the front wheel and backward manuals – with a cassette – are insane.
Watch the video in the player above. To put it into some sort of perspective, everything in this edit was filmed in just three days.
With his amazing bike control, good sponsors and cool attitude, Courage's future looks bright and the BMX world's his to conquer. At the moment he's only able to travel in Europe, but when his Spanish nationality status is confirmed, expect to see Courage out there, smiling and turning heads all over the globe!
