Fifty of the world’s best downhill riders gathered in the coastal town of Valparaiso in Chile to compete and ride the city last February. The race returns on February 24 and we will be bringing you the results here on Red Bull Bike.
15,000 spectators gathered to watch as riders, including Filip Polc, launched themselves from a pagoda for a spectacularly high finish. The dilapidated city streets provide the perfect canvas for designing a challenging race for the riders and you can see Polc’s run in the video above.
You can hear the gasps of amazement as Polc, who won the race in 2010, passes the spectators as he flies through the city and down to the finish.
Local rider Mauricio “Taca” Acuña completed the race in 2.38 minutes to take the win and the $1,000 prize money.
