With a mix of Brazilian and international Olympic athletes, twenty-four skateboarders went head to head in the iconic Red Bull Rio Conquest park, which recreated Rio’s most famous street skate spots in one course. Taking first place for the men’s category was Gabryel Aguilar, and Roos Zwetsloot for women’s.
Red Bull Rio Conquest is the third of our touring skateboard extravaganzas that pay homage to the skate culture of great cities around the globe.
As with Paris and Lisbon before now, our Red Bull Conquest events feature as their centrepiece a free weekend skate contest held on replicas of some of the host city’s most iconic skate spots, in a head-to-head eliminator format, which crowns a new king and queen of each stop.
Each city-centre showdown brings together the best local and international skateboarding talent in an event, which any of them can win on the day!
Red Bull Conquest is unique among street skating contests in that the format is a one-on-one sudden-death knockout, with judges choosing round winners based upon overall rider impression within each three-minute jam, rather than scoring trick tallies.
