So you've mastered wheelies, got your trail hops dialled and are kicking up dust with your drifts? Perfect, now it's time to ramp things up a gear with the latest How To MTB episode as Rob Warner and Tom Oehler teach you how to endo.
Riding it all on the front wheel might seem a bit odd at first and the Endo can be seen more as a trick than a trail skill, but it will teach you a lot about balance and how not to go over the bars, plus it will impress all your mates! This is an easy technique to practise but a hard one to master and it's best practised on flat pedals in case you need to abort!

Steps to getting that perfect endo

  1. Find yourself somewhere flat or slightly downhill with a grippy surface
  2. Roll along, pedals flat, with your finger covering the front brake lever
  3. Bend legs and spring up, pushing on the bars and pulling the front brake at same time
  4. Use your body’s momentum to get that rear wheel off the ground – once you feel it lifting stay strong and don’t change your position on the bike
  5. The next thing to do is really get a feel for that front wheel balance point
  6. If you feel like you’re going to go over the bars release the front brake and your back wheel should come back down to the ground
