Ten of the world’s best windsurfers have been on stand-by for the past six months waiting for the call to start Mission 1 of Red Bull Storm Chase.
Now the project is officially going ahead and the first round of the most-challenging windsurfing contest of all time is expected to start at Brandon Bay in Ireland on Monday, January 28.
The first of three missions to ride massive storms anywhere in the world, the trip to Ireland will see the 10 sailors battling it out for the crown of ultimate storm windsurfer. Only six will advance to the next stage, so the fight is very much on from the start.

A former PWA wave spot, Brandon Bay will give the storm chasers the chance to find the right break for almost any wind direction within a couple of kilometres – and because the wind develops more power in colder temperatures, the riders will be in for one hell of a challenge.
