"My father used to race the Brazilian MX Championship, so that since I was a little kid, I followed him in the circuits. This was my first approach to racing. I loved MX since them."
"Every race I do, my father follows me, this is until today he is a coach of motocross. My mother also joins us sometimes, she also looks after our home and our family. I have an older brother Rafael."
Diogo already has a favourite race: "Jerez Race 2 in the 2029 Talent Cup. I won this race and in the first race I was second. I did get the pole in the qualifying session. First race I was fighting in a group with another 2 riders and I finished second. In the second race I was in the leading group during all the race and I changed the strategy from first race, waiting there until the last lap when I overtook to get the victory."
To that end he has already gained a good deal of experience in 2020. "I did learn a lot on every way, specially racing, to understand the way to manage races, to approach to the race on Sunday during the racing weekend. I understood that racing is much more than Sunday."
He has another favourite race. "The last race of 2020 season, it was in Valencia. I did not qualify good and had to start from 19th position. The leading group had a gap of 6 seconds. Every lap I was closing the gap little by little. I was getting more and more excited because I was contacting the group."
"I caught them when 2 laps to go and I was able to manage to fight with them, finishing 11th. It was a question of keeping every lap fully concentrated and It was a big challenge for me. I was happy for how I was able to solve a bad position on the grid."
"I like clockwise circuits. I love right corners, the circuits with hard breaks and tied corners. The circuit I like the most is Jerez."
"I love the thrill of being riding a bike and doing what I love the most, the butterflies fluttering in the stomach just before a race. The passion for racing, this is the way I live."
For 2021 his goal is clear: "To win the Red Bull Rookies Cup."
