Your Guide to Staying Fit While Gaming

While your avatar is staying active, continuously unlocking achievements, running through endless maps, YOU, the gamer, can do a bit more than breaking the controller or keyboard keys while trying to keep your fitness levels up.
But we are here to break it down for you!
We consulted with nonother than Nasr Esports champ Mohammad Al Adham to give us his hands-on tips on staying fit while being professional gamer. Al Adham from Jordan is no stranger to the concept. He joined Nasr Esports in 2017 and has since then focused his energy on preparing for and competing in major international tournaments with his teammates. But the hours of devotion and commitment does not stop him from staying fit and healthy.

Mohammad even recommends that maintaining a strong fitness levels is a way to ensure achievements gaming wise. He continues “a healthy body equals a healthy mind”. Here are his top tips to maintain boss status in both, gaming and fitness.

1. Work out before starting your gaming session for the day

A quick workout session keeps you fresh for the entire day and helps you physically and aids you mentally to be in tiptop shape to game. Exercise releases endorphins that can actually help you focus and keep you optimistic. You can even gamify your exercise if you commit to not allowing yourself to game until you unlock an exercise achievement. You can do 50 pushups, 30 burpees, a 10-minute run for example.

2. Stretch stretch stretch!

Long hours of gaming can put some stress on your lower back and wrists. If you are a gamer, then you have experienced this firsthand! That is why Mohammad recommends stretching before and after gaming, to keep your body flexible and improve mobility and stability, both important to reduce stress on your body.

3. Make it a habit

“It takes 40 days to make something a habit and 90 days to make it a lifestyle,’ Al Adham explains. He continues that exercise needs to become a part of your everyday life and the commitment to your health and fitness is a reflection of your commitment to gaming.

4. Get some cardio in while gaming

Al Adham prefers cardio workouts when it comes to important tournaments as it helps his thinking process. You can even get a cardio session in while gaming. Use an exercise bike or you can even do a few burpees during game pauses, deaths, respawns etc.

5. VR up your exercise session

Aaah the world of Virtual Reality has unlocked countless opportunities for us mortals. Invest in a VR game that incorporates exercising while gaming and you can hit 2 birds with 1 stone.
