34 There have been 34 previous Grand Prix events in Japan. As well as Motegi, Suzuka and Fisco have both featured on the MotoGP World Championship calendar previously.
13 Motegi has hosted 13 of those Grands Prix since its first event in 1999.
4 Since the introduction of the four-stroke MotoGP formula in 2002, both Ducati and Honda have taken four wins each at Motegi.
3 Loris Capirossi – now MotoGP's Race Direction Safety Officer – is the most successful MotoGP rider at Motegi, having won there three times. His trio of victories came in consecutive seasons from 2005 to 2007, and were all achieved on a Ducati.
1 Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa took his first MotoGP victory at Motegi last season, completing a clean sweep across all categories in which he has raced at the track. He won in the 125cc class there in 2002 and in 250cc in 2004.
