Splendid Isolation.

This young chap hails from one of the most southern places in Spain, Gran Canaria. Known by the nickname of “Lito”, he combines his studies in Business Administration with skating without a problem. His humility has always been a trademark and it shows every time he steps on a board. The ease with which he jumps gaps is something you do not get to very often and it requires you to have cameras at the ready in order to not miss any detail. Lito is, basically, one of those people who is always there when you need him.

How is living in Spain whilst simultaneously being so far away from it?
It is like living in a small paradise, with the limitations that living on an island of a far- flung archipelago has. There is the difficulty in getting support or being in the media, and additional restraints when it comes to travelling. Having said that, if you can enjoy this little island, its weather, its people, its tranquility and lifestyle, it can be a good place to live.
What made you buy your first board?
When I was little I played football, but it was like playing an establishment game- full of rules, timetables... it became a routine, and it was very competitive. One day I saw a kid in my neighbourhood with a skateboard and I asked my Mum to get me one, and when I tried it I felt something different to what I had felt with other sports... which got me hooked up.

And that different feeling that you had- is it the reason why you like jumping so much?
I don´t know, what impressed me the most from skate videos was how they did tricks down gaps, rails, stairs... hammers... and by watching it so much it became my motivation to try and be able to do that.
What’s the best thing skateboarding has given you?
Travelling and all that it implies- the experiences, the people you meet, the friends you make in different places you visit, it all ends up creating this curiosity to keep travelling... getting to know different cultures and discover the world while you skate with your friends.
Best trip so far?
It´s difficult to choose one because from all the trips I come back with positive experineces. I would say the first tour we did with Converse from Barcelona to Málaga or to San Sebastián.
