In Formula One, getting through a corner faster than your rivals makes the difference between getting in the points or just making up the numbers.
To corner efficiently, drivers need to find the perfect braking point, the optimal grip, judge the turn-in, apex and exit all the time experiencing positive and negative and G-force – and they have to do it consistently for around 70 laps.
But how does it feel to take a corner in an F1 car?
An F1 car has incredible power of acceleration, twinned with jaw-dropping stopping power through its brakes. That allows the car to approach a corner at 330kph and then slow to 60kph as it passes through the corner before taking off again.

Aerodynamics generate downforce which, coupled with the grip from the new wider Pirelli tyres, keep the car planted on the track. That means an F1 driver can cruise through a sweeping corner at closer to 300kph – which is an entirely different sensation.
