Hi! First off, what's your name and what do you do?

Hi, my name is Anniefuchsia but everyone calls me Annie, and I stream fulltime on Twitch!
I started streaming for fun back in 2014 after taking a break from my studies at Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (Royal School of Technology). I had already been playing quite a bit of World of Warcraft during my freetime, while looking for a part-time job. My friends managed to convince me to start livestreaming my experience.

I was really quite nervous at first and it took me a while to feel comfortable on camera. It remained as a hobby for a long time, and I only started making a living from livestreaming around a year later. It was a gradual change into becoming a career and it was never my intention when I started.
With streaming, the journey is sometimes more important than the destination.

How does an average day in your life look like?

A typical day for me starts with me waking up late in the afternoon. I tidy my desk and prepare all the meals for that day, which is usually just breakfast and dinner. Before I start my stream I try and give my cat Luna some attention and fresh food and water. I normally start streaming around 7pm, and tend to stream long hours. It's not uncommon to catch me live at 4-5am. After streams I tend to catch up on messages/emails and then I do something relaxing to wind down and get ready for bed, such as watching a series or taking a long bath.

How do you keep yourself relevant?

This is a tough one! Being relevant can change so fast. I believe it's important to make friends with other people who do what you do, and build a network like that. On top of that it's also very important to stay consistent, not only on your stream channel but also other social media like Twitter and Instagram. Being a streamer is not a 9 to 5, it's a lifestyle!

Did you have any influences?

I loved watching Sodapoppin in my early days on Twitch. Sodapoppin is one of the first people who had managed to turn streaming into a career and he was only a teenager at the time. I always loved how little he cared about what people think of him. He was silly and creative and always tried to have fun.
I love building communities and Classic is the perfect game for that!

Since your main focus is World of Warcraft - what do you think of WoW Classic so far?

Amazing. Classic has been a slow grind and I'm loving it! I love building communities and Classic is the perfect game for that. I have my own guild on Shazzrah server, and the guild is growing every day. It's going to be really exciting once we start hitting level 60 and we get to face off against Onyxia!

How's life as a female streamer?

My experience being a female streamer has been both positive and negative. A positive is the amount of opportunities that we get, since female gamers are a bit more rare to find in a male dominated industry. People love meeting female streamers and are often extra interested in hearing about our experiences. A negative with being a female streamer is the bad reputation that we have of being terrible gamers. There will always be trolls who try to tell females where they should be (like in the kitchen) instead of playing and owning in the games they love.

How does gender equality look like in the world of gaming?

From my perspective as a female gamer, gender equality is constantly improving. Males are still the more respected gamers, but as we get more professional females arriving on the scene, the faster we can work to improve our bad rep as sucky gamers.

What tips would you give to yourself 5 years ago?

Have patience and don't give up. Go for any crazy ideas you may have, you never know what kind of opportunities are waiting for you around the corner.

Do you have any tips for those who wishes to have a career in streaming?

I believe it's important to understand that aiming to have a career in streaming is like aiming to become a football or pop star. Not everyone will be fortunate enough to turn their passion into a career, but don't let that discourage you. With streaming, the journey is sometimes more important than the destination. Enjoy what you are doing not just for the financial aspect, but rather because it makes you happy. You never know what opportunities may arise.
