These questions, and many others, will be answered during this year's Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) tour. After previously presenting international icons such as Moodymann, Detroit legend Robert Hood, pop-techno star Matias Aguayo and sadly deceased footwork pioneer DJ Rashad - it’s now time to shift the focus towards what's going on in Sweden's own exciting music scene. One of Sweden’s most well-known music journalists, Calle Dernulf, will lead openhearted discussions with focus on 'Do It Yourself' culture in modern Swedish club music.
Previous RBMA participants Axel Barnhus, Kornél Kovács and Toxe will also share their stories and experiences from the academy - together with practical information and tips for your application. This year's academy takes place in the music the city of Montreal during the fall of 2016. 70 selected participants - singers, musicians, producers and DJs from all over the world - will gather to take part in workshops, meet music legends, perform and collaborate. The academy represents a unique opportunity to be inspired, develop skills and make contacts that will last for a lifetime. More information on how to apply here.
The Swedish Application Tour intends to give a glimpse of what workshops and sessions during the actual academy will look like. Music studio and record label Studio Barnhus is taking part together with hip-hop collective Respect My Hustle, producer Baba Stiltz, DJ, producer duo Mr. Tophat & Art Alfie, start-up and innovative dj agency Esperanto and Toxe. Toxe participated in last year's Red Bull Music Academy in Paris, was just booked by Sonar Barcelona and is about to become one of the most interesting up and coming music producers in Sweden.
On top of lecture and talks - it will of course be live sets, party and a lineup that can be read like a "who's who" list in new Swedish club music. SEE YOU THERE!
