Like many racing drivers, Josep María 'Pepe' Martí’s journey began when he started to take part in local karting championships. Racing competitively by the age of 11, it took him just two years to make his mark as in 2019 he triumphed in the junior category of the Spanish Karting Championship while driving for a team owned by F1 superstar Fernando Alonso.
Two years later, Josep made his single-seater debut when he secured a drive for Xcel Motorsport in the Formula Four UAE Championship – securing his first win at Yas Marina Circuit, home of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
His attention then turned to the F4 Spanish Championship with Campos Racing. Josep excelled on home soil as he won two races and finished third overall in the championship standings.
2022 saw the Spaniard step up to compete in the FIA Formula Three Championship and race in the Formula Regional Asian Championship, where he narrowly missed out on the title.
Remaining with Campos Racing for the 2023 F3 season, Josep secured numerous victories in both sprint and features races as he ended the season in fifth place overall.
Under the watchful eye of mentor Alonso, the talented Spaniard now makes the step up for FIA Formula 2 where he will continue with Campos Racing in 2024.
