Maddie Mastro is at the forefront of a new generation of snowboarders that are redefining the women's scene. An X Games bronze medalist by the age of 18, she’s already an accomplished competitor with numerous World Cup podium finishes to her name.
Born in Loma Linda, California, Mastro started snowboarding at the age of six and from those first laps in the front garden, building jumps and riding down a toy slide, she loved everything about snowboarding.
Mastro believes that spending her formative years chasing her older brother Cameron around California's Mammoth Mountain honed her skills. “I definitely think growing up with an older brother helped shape me into the person and rider I am today,” she says. “He’s a couple of years older than me and all I ever wanted to do was keep up with him.”
Fast forward to 2018 and Mastro became the first woman to land the challenging Double Crippler in a halfpipe. The following year she claimed first place at the Burton US Open and has continued to rack up numerous podium finishes at high-profile events around the world.
A combination of her technical ability in the air, her hard-charging attitude and some high-flying amplitude have made Mastro a top contender whenever she straps into her snowboard above the halfpipe and earned her nicknames like 'Mad Dog' and 'Maestro.'
