Few athletes can say they have competed at the peak of their sports over a long stretch of time. Dallas Friday is one of those athletes.
The wakeboard pioneer won the 2004 ESPY for best female action sports athlete, and she's added to her list of accomplishments since. She's persevered through serious injuries, and soon, she will be even more recognizable after posing for ESPN the Magazine's Body Issue.
Friday learned how to wakeboard at age 12 — and pulled off her first trick at the same age. Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, she says she can't go a day without drinking Red Bull. She's afraid of rats and jokes that her middle name is Thursday. Dallas Thursday Friday. (Editor's note: It's actually Jacqueline.)
