Steve Aoki and Linkin Park recently debuted their new collaborative single, 'A Light That Never Comes.' The EDM/Rock crossover song -- watch the lyric video above -- was initially accessible by playing the "LP Recharge" 3D Facebook game.
'A Light That Never Comes' will appear on Linkin Park's upcoming album, ' Recharged,' out October 29. It consists of remixes of songs from Linkin Park's last album, 'Living Things,' by Datsik, Schoolboy, Nick Catchdubs, KillSonik, Paul Van Dyk and more. Rappers Pusha T and Bun B pop up on two tracks ('I'll Be Gone' and 'Road Untraveled,' respectively). And mega-producer Rick Rubin has made a "Reboot" of 'A Light That Never Comes.'
Linkin Park has a history of collaborations. Most notably, the 'Collision Course' EP they did with Jay Z. The hit song from that album, 'Numb/Encore,' earned them a Grammy in 2006 for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
In an interview with KROQ, Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda had this to say about why the band decided to collaborate with an artist from the EDM world:
“I think that EDM is at a place where it can either repeat itself, stay kind of stagnant and eventually get boring, or people can do what Steve [Aoki] is doing, what Avicii is doing, what a lot of these other guys are doing and start experimenting and taking chances."
