Music
Check out an exclusive live session from Sweden’s most interesting new export.
Nadia Nair isn't long for the underground now. After releasing music quietly for the past few years the Gothenburg singer is set to go overground with a debut album packed with the sort of huge, intoxicating songs that top music charts. She's doing so with some of the most interesting pop music you've heard since Nair's fellow Swede Robyn was all up in your grill, too.
Nair's influences stretch beyond the usual list of acts trotted out these days. Beautiful Poetry's bold, towering songs pack in everything from The Knife's shadowy, atmospheric melodrama and Robyn's bulldozing disco to an 80s synth-pop take on the music of her parents' homelands, India and Malaysia, and clipped hip-hop beats. That's before we even discuss Nair's voice, which veers between vulnerable tremble, soulful mantra, and undaunted wail. Make sure you tune into her live session for RedBull.com/Music's series See. Hear. Now.
Get to know Nadia Nair a little better and check out exclusive performances of Blow (from 1:57) and Something Something Something (from 7:30) in the player above.
