XRow 2013 Rowing Competition in Switzerland
Video of the unique rowing and running race from Zug to Lucerne in Switzerland.
Red Bull XRow, the most gruelling rowing race in the world, took place in Switzerland on October 5 2013. Watch the video above for a taste of the day's action.
Starting at Zug, the teams of eight must row across Lake Zug, before picking up their 100 pound boats and carrying them over land to the shores of Lake Lucerne, where it's back on the water for the final leg of the course.
With 19km of rowing and 7km of testing cross-country running to get through, XRow attracts top teams from around the world. The standard was incredibly high in 2013, needing a super-human effort from home favourites 'Swiss Selection', which included World Champion rower Simon Niepmann, to take the win in a time of 2:09:30.
