If you haven't watched the feature video chronicling Sasha DiGiulian's first female ascent of Viaje de los Locos, an advanced route in Sardinia, Italy, you should check it out now. The route wasn't her first choice to do as a project before she returned to school at Columbia University after summer break, but the challenge resulted in what she called "the most rewarding climbing experience of my life."
In the video above, we get to see a bit of the beind-the-scenes action from the project. "The climb is one of the hardest multi-pitches in the world," says Sasha. "Two weeks ago when we first got here this route was certainly not in my realm of possibility." Patience and perseverance paid off, however, and Sasha and climbing partner Edu Marin completed every pitch in one bottom-to-top push.
Although the project wasn't an easy one, it was crucial to keep the challenge in perspective as the pair toiled in beautiful Sardinia. "This is the view we have here," Sasha says while roped into the wall. "Not a bad office." Not bad indeed.
