Elsa Bleda is a photographer whose transcendental, haunting imagery has garnered her a sizable following. In 2016 she presented Nightscapes, a solo exhibition at Kalashnikovv Gallery gallery in the lead up to the Red Bull Music Academy Weekender Johannesburg. Featuring striking, ethereal images of Jozi at night, evoking the alienated, lonely mood of a city that never rests, the success of the exhibition lead to Nightscapes Cape Town earlier this year, exhibited at the Red Bull Studios Cape Town in the lead up to CTEMF, continuing the theme with equally powerful images of CPT after hours.
Elsa has now taken the project to Durban and, rather than waiting for an exhibition to divulge her work, she has been revealing individual photos on Instagram as it all comes together. Here is a selection of those images up till now along with the individual songs, selected by Elsa herself, that evoke the mood of each image at the time that it was captured.
As an ongoing work, follow Elsa on Insta for regular updates and keep and eye out for further updates here.
